Emilio Silva fue el primer desaparecido de la Guerra Civil identificado con métodos científicos. Su cuerpo fue exhumado en 2000 en Villafranca del Bierzo con la colaboración de la Sociedad de Ciencias Aranzadi. Diez años después, la sociedad recoge en la exposición itinerante Exhumando fosas, recuperando dignidades, el trabajado que ha realizado durante este tiempo en más de 70 fosas repartidas por la geografía española.
La muestra fue inaugurada ayer en el teatro Usurbe de Beasain, donde permanecerá hasta el próximo día 31. Después visitará Aretxabaleta, Bergara, San Sebastián y Hernani y espera que, más adelante viaje a otras comunidades autónomas.
La exposición recoge cerca de 100 fotografías seleccionadas entre las 19.000 imágenes captadas por quienes han intervenido de una u otra manera en las exhumaciones. Desde los familiares hasta los forenses.
Y se estructuran en cuatro bloques temáticos. Las personas pone cara a quienes, desde diferentes asociaciones, promocionan la recuperación de la memoria, a los vecinos que, con su testimonio, ofrecen información que permite encontrar las fosas y a los familiares de los fallecidos. A estos últimos, la exposición le dedica el apartado más amplio.
Todo el proceso de excavación, desde las prospecciones hasta la limpieza de los restos, puede verse en La fosa, mientras que para conocer el trabajo de investigación, que llevan a cabo antropólogos y forenses para identificar los restos y las causas de la muerte, el visitante debe acercarse a El Laboratorio.
La entrega de los restos a los familiares y los enterramientos que, habitualmente, se realizan en actos públicos cargados de emotividad, quedan perfectamente reflejados en las imágenes de la sección denominada El homenaje.
"Hay imágenes de familiares directos. En concreto, hay una señora que me llama mucho la atención. Con 90 y tantos años fue a la exhumación de su marido, a quien mataron cuando tenía 25. Había estado toda la vida sin saber dónde estaba, sin tenerlo bien enterrado", comenta Pilar Cobo, coordinadora de la exposición.
El forense Paco Etxeberria, director de Antropología de Aranzadi, es una de las personas que lidera, desde sus inicios, estos trabajos que pretenden rescatar la memoria histórica. No pudo acudir ayer a la inauguración de la exposición al encontrarse en Chile, pero, recientemente explicaba la razón de estas exhumaciones. "Aunque estemos exhumando fosas, en realidad estamos recuperando dignidadades. Lo que hay ahí dentro no es un objeto, es una persona que tenía una identidad, unos sentimientos, unos ideales y fue tratada injustamente: una cuando le mataron y otra en el tratamiento que le había dado la historia", señala.
